If you want the professionalism offered by a large firm of accountants but don't want the price tag that goes along with it - have a chat with us.
If you want the friendly, down to earth approach that you expect from a smaller practice but, in addition, you want sound tax planning opportunities to be regularly pointed out to you - have a chat with us.
We offer the ideal mix of large and small in that we have the experience and professionalism you would expect from a larger practice but share the caring and friendly attitude (and lower fees) that come with a smaller one.
Unfortunately, I know that many small practices are capable of doing little more than preparing your accounts and tax returns annually and only ever seem to offer the most basic of tax planning advice when you ask them if there is anything you should be doing to reduce your tax bill. Sound familiar?
Not only will I complete your tax returns and accounts, I will be proactive in providing genuine tax saving HMRC compliant solutions for individuals & small businesses.
As a Chartered Tax Adviser with over 30 years experience in the tax profession, including almost 14 years spent with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), my goal, since beginning to operate my own tax practice in 2010, is that you do not pay a penny more in tax than you need to ever again.
The UK's increasingly complex and ever expanding tax code (over 10 million words in 2016 compared to Hong Kong's tax code of just 300 pages in its basic form) is set against the background of huge cuts within HMRC:
Tax enquiry centres closed their doors to the public in 2014;
Revenue helplines kept people waiting an average 47 minutes (it was reported in 07/2016).
There has been a huge shedding of HMRC staff for several years and this will go into overdrive as the Government pursues its 'Make Tax Digital' programme which will result in the vast majority of Self-Assessment taxpayers and businesses having to report to HMRC quarterly by 2020 instead of annually via a tax return.
Most of the HMRC staff who are left after all but 13 out of 137 offices are closed down by 2027, will be working in tax investigations with a view to punishing those taxpayers who have fallen foul of the incredibly complex regime, rather than trying to help them get it right in the first instance!
The consequence of these factors is that most businesses and any individual with slightly complicated tax affairs will need to use the services of a tax professional.
With complexity comes opportunity.
You will find all sorts of advice on business or landlord forums on the net. I would urge caution with these because your circumstances and goals could be different to the person or organisation offering the advice. Whilst tax savings may arise in the short term in one area, say Income Tax & NIC, in the longer term there may be a vital Capital Gains Tax or Inheritance Tax relief lost.
Always check with a professional any general advice gleamed on a website.
You should note that anybody can call themselves an accountant or tax adviser/tax consultant and set up an accountancy/tax practice purporting to be a specialist. Be wary of anybody who does not have professional qualifications with bodies such as the ATT and CIOT (tax, both of whom I am a professional with) and/or accountancy professional bodies such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
If you want an experienced professional who has a good all round tax knowledge and is keen to build a good working relationship with you as an individual or as a small business owner, in return for a reasonable fee, call or email today. Don't delay, get in touch for peace of mind that your tax affairs are compliant and you are paying the minimum amount of tax.
In the words of the Chartered Institute of Taxation 'By the time you find out your tax advice was poor, so are you'.
A tax consultancy service is also available for accountants.

Bradford based, ex HMRC, Chartered Tax Adviser with over 30 years experience, offering an accounts, tax compliance and planning service for individuals and small businesses.
We first used the tax services of Kevin almost 10 years ago when he was working for a local firm of chartered accountants. Having received an excellent service from him for a number of years (including expanding from a partnership to a limited company) we were delighted to hear that Kevin had set up on his own and had no hesitation in signing up as a client in 2012. He continues to offer a very personable and cost effective service. We would absolutely recommend him to any other small company like ours.
I first met Kevin in January 2013 when I presented him with a bag of worms regarding a tax investigation by HMRC. Kevin was very professional and dealt with my enquiry to a fair and prompt conclusion. Since then he has VAT registered me which has resulted in me being able to claim back £,000s in respect of mileage, which is my biggest expense. First class service; I have recommend on a number of occasions
We found Kevin through an internet search as we were not in a position to ask friends or relatives for a recommendation because our specific requirements were quite specialised. We were looking for a tax advisor that had knowledge of not only UK tax procedures but international as well.
Kevin immediately came across as a consummate professional who had in depth knowledge of tax implications for expatriates, residency in UK and repercussions for investments in the UK for those who were not residents.
Our needs for information were quite select and complicated, Kevin relayed information to us that was at our level of understanding (we are not au fait with UK tax laws at all) and was able to provide us with information regarding Sri Lankan tax regulations as well, the country we semi-reside in. After our consultation felt we had a sound knowledge of our current tax situation and subsequent required courses of action. In addition to the residency issues and the tax implications this brought about, Kevin advised us regarding property ownership in the UK and the consequences regarding ownership, rental income from the property and what would happen when we decided to sell the property in the future regarding tax.
We will certainly go back for advice from Kevin in the future, his level of knowledge and ability to present the information in a manner we clearly understood was excellent. We found him very valuable resource and as important, a very amiable person.
Signed up with Kevin in 2010 for him to do my tax return; still with him 5 years on. His fee was less than half that of my previous accountants and just as good a service. He came to see me at home twice on an evening in January even when it was dreadful weather. I continue to recommend him to colleagues.
