Excellent service, thorough and professional. Having their help to fill in a tax return made me feel reassured and it was stress-free. They don't use jargon and were understanding and responsive. Will use this company again and recommend it highly.

Henry is always very helpful and prompt in dealing with our accounts and if I have any tax queries. We have used his company for over 15 years and I would not hesitate in recommending him and Marks & co to anyone.

From Our Website

As Brighton accountants established over 30 years ago we currently have over a thousand clients based in Brighton & Hove. Most are small to medium sized businesses, where we look after their accountancy and taxation needs. But we also work with larger companies, and we take care of private individuals too - anyone who needs to produce a tax return, or wants help with their accountancy affairs. Brighton accountants, David Hall and Henry Speight, are backed by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff.

Henry has lived in Brighton most of his life, and joined Marks & Co in 1989, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). Henry specialises in business start-ups, company accounts and flat management entities. He is also the IT manager at Marks & Co. and can advise on setting up an accounting system best suited to a business' specific needs. When not working, Henry spends most of his free time with his family, cycling and messing around with computers. David moved to Brighton to study in 1977 and has lived and worked in the area since.

If this affects you, you should be filing your VAT returns via third party software and your records must be kept digitally. If you currently use accounting software you will need to check that it is compatible with MTDfV and possibly upgrade to the latest version. There have been a number of important changes over the past few years not all of which are appreciated by busy landlords. Please contact us if you would like an appointment to discuss. HMRC have proposed a reduction of the PPR exemption for the final period of ownership from 18 months to 9 months and the restriction of relief for letting to circumstances where the owner of the property is in shared occupancy with the tenant.
