Formed in Dulwich, South London in 2009; we focus on providing quality tax advice and business owner accounting services. No aspect of a UK Tax Return which is outside of our remit. The principal tax accountant, Ray Coman, deals with each client personally. We support start-ups, choosing between being a sole trader, partnership or company, and on VAT registration.
Coman & Co. Ltd. is a forward thinking, growing accountancy practice. We operate from easily accessible, shop fronted offices in Dulwich, London. As the articles in this website demonstrate we have broad, detailed and current expertise in taxation. This knowledge is backed with a wide experience gained over the seven years we have been in business.
There is free parking outside the office. We are located close to Lordship Lane (accessed via the South Circular at the south end and via Denmark Hill at the north end.) Nearest Train station is East Dulwich, Zone 2. The trains take 12 minutes to reach London Bridge and run about once every 15 minutes.
Part time office manager. Employed. Coman & Co. Ltd. Date open: 01/10/2021, This role is a mixture of client communications and marketing. Hours are full time 40 a week. Work will be mostly on site and applicants will only be considered- preferably in Cheltenham or at least commutable distance. Coman&Co is a forward-thinking 12-year-old chartered accountancy practice in affluent South London.

TLDR: Good initial conversation to understand the request but the moment things got complicated, I barely received any attention to details, being asked what numbers I wish to be written in the Tax Return! Exceptionally poor customer service and communication despite premium fee rates. Complete inability to acknowledge deficient work and settle matters amicably while trying every trick in the book to shift responsibility onto clients. Repeated attempts at pressuring clients into accepting subpar work contrary to their interests. Definitely not recommend!
While Ray might be an OK professional in general, unfortunately, in my case, his performance was extremely disappointing. I've asked Ray to put together my self-assessment tax return for TY23/24 while substantiating a particular set of circumstances from TY22/23 which was likely to have a knock-on effect on my tax position. He agreed to calculate the tax return for TY 23/24 and doublecheck the taxes for TY22/23. Given that I have no accounting training, I provided him with the requested documents. Ray completely failed to account for my TY22/23 concerns or look across all documents. This resulted in a miscalculation of at least a couple thousand of pounds less. Upon raising doubts regarding his overall approach and analysis, Ray did not provide a detailed analysis, bringing up very superficial off-topic commentary and insisting on signing the documents. At that stage, it was clear that I had to spend hours doing the calculations myself.
Ray showed an extremely petty attitude throughout and refused to reach a compromise in order to settle the matter while constantly trying to shift responsibility to the client. After this experience, I would highly recommend NOT using Coman&Co'sservices.

I can't recommend Ray Coman highly enough. I would give him 10 stars if I could. He literally saved me! I was in tears when I first spoke to him over the phone. My previous accountant made huge mistakes with some calculations. Ray corrected his mistakes, thanks to his incredible experience and professionalism, dealing very promptly with the problem and sorting it out completely. I feel incredibly lucky I met him. Ray is the BEST.

I got in touch with Coman & Co with tentative query after stumbling upon a useful article on their website while googling for some property tax information. Ray responded very quickly and was generous with his time and information, even though it didn't turn into a job for him, or hasn't yet! After that experience though I'd certainly consider him if I do decide to engage an accountant in the future, he clearly knows his stuff and has a nice attitude which I think would be a great start to a relationship with your accountant!
